There is an old saying in the Health & Fitness world that 70% of body re-composition results are from the kitchen and 30% the Gym. Well, its TRUE !!!..There are so many diets out there that it can be totally confusing. My approach is highly individualized in that it must be sustainable. For example, there is absofeckinlutely no point recommending a meat-based diet (Carnivore) to a Vegan and vice versa.

Along with the various fitness qualifications I have had over the years there is always a component part on nutrition. Some work and some most definitely don’t (I’ve learned from experience). Ill give you an example of changing tides – Professor Tim Noakes (BIO here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Noakes ). An exercise science / nutrition expert and early supporter of high carbohydrate diets remarkably after several decades reversed his position and characterised mainstream dietary advice, which emphasizes carbohydrate consumption, as "genocide",[13] and instead advocates a low-carbohydrate, high-fat (LCHF) diet.

Personally I have been ketogenic for several years (but it’s not for everyone and that doesn’t mean I won’t explore other options with you). I believe it to be the most optimal nutritional protocol for humans. NOW, in the mainstream as always there are many misconceptions and here are a few,

  1. It’s a fad diet!!! Well, no, the modern ketogenic diet was established over 100 years ago for pediatric epilepsy. It faded when big pharma started to develop drugs to manage (manage not eliminate) seizures. After the release of the Meryl Streep movie “first do no harm” in the early nineties the ketogenic diet has seen a phenomenal growth in therapeutic applications ranging from Alzheimer’s, dementia, epilepsy to current leading cancer researchers. You can see the movie here for free … https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tHZnuhqVTgY

  2. There is only one ketogenic diet!!! Well, no again … There are five variations of the Ketogenic Diet which have been published in medical literature as effective treatments for diseases that have an underlying metabolic dysregulation, such as epilepsy, cancer, and Alzheimer’s. The original Ketogenic Therapy, known as the classic Ketogenic Diet, or classic Keto for short, was designed in 1923 by Dr. Russell Wilder at the Mayo Clinic for the treatment of epilepsy. All Ketogenic Diets are a variation of classic Keto, which is the strictest, seen by its ratio of fat to protein and carbs, also called the macronutrient ratio. Classic Keto carries a 4:1 ratio, which means that there are four parts fat for every one-part protein and carb. Since fat has a higher caloric content versus protein and carb (fat has 9 calories per gram, while both protein and carb have just 4 calories per gram), 90% of calories come from fat in a classic Ketogenic Diet, while 6% come from protein, and 4% come from carb. The main difference between the five types of Ketogenic Diets is this macronutrient ratio.

  3. You can’t be Keto if Vegan!!! This is not correct. You can, ill admit its challenging to be nutritionally optimal. but it can be done using calorie dense MCT and other oils such as Olive Oil. If you are Vegan and committed to been nutritionally optimal I will commit to helping you.

So, I am pro-of a ketogenic lifestyle. Both my wife and I have lived this way for several years but as mentioned above I will work with you to optimize your nutrition within your parameters for sustainable change. In 2024 I started a Ketogenic Master diploma programme and after 20 months of study graduated late 2025. This is something I am incredibly proud of. I am fortunate that I have two nieces (one an integrative Medical Doctor who specializes in Anti-Aging and HRT and one a highly regarded Functional medicine GP). They helped me at various stages to get a grasp of what is a complex subject.

Here is the link to the diploma and review the page as there are many free resources including recipes and more. Also embedded is the curriculum I went through and the various therapeutic applications.
